The Friday Photo: Erdington Coat of Arms

I was pretty excited when I learnt about this from a newsletter sent by Erdington councillors, so I had to seek it out and get a photo. There is a little building on the Erdington/Wylde Green border which was once the tram terminus for Erdington. It has been covered by hoardings for many years and was recently uncovered. Underneath was found this coat of arms, thought to be the only architectural example of the Erdington coat of arms still in existence. The coat of arms was used by the Erdington Urban Council. The EUC was formed in 1894 when Erdington separated from the parish of Aston. What a lovely piece of heritage to discover.
