This week’s Friday Photo is of the new HSBC building on Broad Street. HSBC began its roots as Midland Bank, originally entitled Birmingham and Midland Bank, and was founded in Birmingham in 1836, before being rebranded as HSBC in 1999…and it’s coming back home to the Midlands. I remember opening my first bank account at school in Year 7 with Midland Bank, some time ago now I must say. The new office is due to open in January 2018 and will accommodate 2,500 staff…and apparently it will be one of the greenest buildings in the city. Watch this space!
