Friday Photo: Birmingham Oratory

The Birmingham Oratory on the Hagley Road has been the subject of a Friday photo before but I’d like to share this different view: the beautiful domed ceiling above the shrine of St Philip Neri. This small area, that leads off from the transept, was designed by G. B. Cox and added to the existing building in 1927. Historic England gave the Oratory its grade II* listing in part due to the architectural quality and craftsmanship of the fittings, which is certainly evident in this ornate area and throughout the building.
