The Friday Photo: Caffe Nero Temple Row West

This is a stunning building on the corner of Waterloo Street and Temple Row West. Built in around 1900, the building is made of brick and cream terracotta and was always used as an office building. It was built for the Ocean Insurance Corporation. Highly ornate, the patterning on the corner oriel has the company initials, waves, fishes, roses and thistles. For many years the building was home to the Birmingham Midshires bank but is now occupied by Caffe Nero. It’s nice serene space inside and the windows looking out to the cathedral are a delight.
