Todays photo is the rather sad looking Golden Lion Inn, it is a Grade II listed building and currently stands (just about!) in Cannon Hill Park. The Golden Lion Inn was built in the early 16th century on Deritend high street and dismantled and re-erected in its present position in 1911. It is a timber framed building with plaster infill and the ground floor is faced with brick. The building is currently structurally unsound due to neglect and subsequent decay: support scaffold now keeps it standing. The sign outside states that the council is exploring the possibility of moving the building back to the Digbeth area as part of the Eastside regeneration – however it has been in this state for a very long time and as far as I know its future remains uncertain.
