Friday Photo: Sutton Town Station

Sutton Train Station

This week’s Friday Photo is of the not very well known old Sutton Town Station in Sutton Coldfield. Located in the town centre but nestled away in a quiet side street, the building is now used as offices and is literally a stone’s throw from Sutton’s main station. Built in 1879, it was located on the Midland Railway’s line from Water Orton to Walsall, but closed to passengers in 1924 after just 45 years. Today, the building blends in well with its surroundings and it’s hard to imagine its previous usage as passenger station over 90 years ago.
