Friday Photo: St Martin’s Church

Todays Friday photo is of a festive St Martin’s church in the Bullring. There has been a church at the centre of the bullring markets site since the 13th century, the present Victorian church having been built on the site of its demolished predecessor. The majority of the Grade II listed building was built in 1873 in a Victorian Gothic style and designed by Alfred Chatwin. It includes a Burne-Jones stained glass window in the south transept, added in 1875, and Minton Victorian floor tiles. The Church was cleaned and restored as part of the Bullring redevelopment and remains a focal point of the market area to this day. Merry Christmas everyone!
