Friday Photo- Birmingham School of Art

Margaret Street 2I couldn’t find a seasonal photo this year, so decided to share a good old favourite instead, Birmingham School of Art building on Margaret Street. Royal Birmingham Society of Artists founded the Birmingham Government School of Design in 1843, and in 1877 the building was turned into the UK’s first municipal college of art, and with funding from George Tangye, (The famous Birmingham engine manufacturer) the current building was commissioned, later becoming the centre for the Arts and Crafts movement.

We need your support to help with our current project: The Golden Lion.

Your donations will help fund the initial scoping works currently underway and give this building a brighter future.
