I was lucky enough to have a sneak peek inside Curzon Street Station this week as Birmingham Heritage Week prepared for their launch event on Wednesday. Working opposite the building, I have to admit that I take it for granted every single day. Opened in 1838 and closing in 1966, it was once known as Birmingham Station, transporting passengers to and from London, a journey that took a staggering five and a half hours to complete. It took 20,000 men to build and four and a half years to complete. Walking inside the building, you’re immediately hit by the grandeur, the history and the smell that permeates the building. I was instantly transported back in time and I quite liked it.
