Friday Photo: Former Moseley School of Art

Today’s Friday photo is inside the former Moseley school of Art. I was lucky enough to get a look inside during the heritage open day last month. The building, which was built in 1899, is grade II* listed and was designed by William Bidlake. It was bought from the council by the Moseley Muslim Community Association in the 1980s and had long been on Historic England’s ‘At Risk’ register. Recently however, it received grants from the Heritage Lottery Fund and the Architectural Heritage Fund, and the restoration and refurbishment is currently well under-way. The photo features the main double staircase in the entrance hall. The space has some lovely detailing with Doric columns and sections of herringbone brick paving
