Friday Photo: Bournville Green

BOURNVILLE GREEN (2)

This weeks Friday photo, to start off  December, is a festive one of Bournville Green. The Green was a important part of the original Bournville master plan, conceived as an integral focal point and green open space for the community. The renowned Christmas tree in front of the Quaker meeting house is an atlas cedar and was planted in 1948 to commemorate Dame Elizabeth Cadburys’ 90th birthday. The Bounville Village Trust decorates the tree every year – as it is so large they need a cherry picker to reach the top! It  creates a wonderful atmosphere for the community and all that pass through.
