Today’s Friday photo is of the entrance building to the Birmingham Wildlife Conservation Park.  The park was,  until recently, known as Birmingham Nature Centre, but as it includes many exotic animals, such as Red Panda’s and Meerkats, the new name seems more fitting for the park’s current inhabitants. The Nature Centre was opened in 1974, but it was originally the old Birmingham Natural History Museum. Above the entrance door  “Museum” is carved into the old stonework, but this is now covered by the new signage.  The site of the park was once part of a 16th century fulling mill, known as Pebble Mill, in which the old BBC studios (now demolished) was named after.
