Friday Photo- Sutton Coldfield Town Hall

Sutton 2

This beautiful red-brick building is located in the heart of Sutton Coldfield and steeped in history, having once been a hotel, a council building and even a fire station. In 1974, when Sutton Coldfield became a district of Birmingham, the town hall became obsolete, but luckily the building still stands proudly, high up on a hill, for all to see. If you look closely, you’ll also be able to spot the original Sutton Coldfield coat of arms over the doorway, which was eventually absorbed into the Birmingham coat of arms in 1974. If you visit the town hall today, you’ll spot a lot of scaffolding because the building is now being converted into luxury flats. Still, at least this beautiful building is still standing for all to admire.
