Now that our Volunteer and Operations Manager Marie is in post the recruitment drive is on for volunteers to join our team at Newman Brothers, at the Coffin Works, when we open in October.
(Yes, unfortunately due to a delay in the capital works programme, we are no longer heading towards a late summer opening, but plan to open at the end of October.)
Newman Brothers in Fleet Street (Jewellery Quarter) is a fantastic grade II* listed factory which made coffin furniture for over 100 years. With its new lease of life, it will offer visitors the extraordinary opportunity to ‘step back in time’ and experience the factory as a ‘time-capsule’, set in the 1960s; full of original stock and machinery and with many a tale to tell!
We are now busy recruiting a team of friendly, enthusiastic volunteers who enjoy talking to people and sharing their passion for Birmingham’s social and industrial history.
Are you, or anyone you know, looking for the opportunity to get involved in Birmingham’s newest and most unique heritage attraction? Do you want to be part of the team which brings the Newman Brothers factory back to life, fifteen years after the business closed and the factory workers left?
We are currently recruiting volunteers for the following roles ( please click on for role descriptions):
Room_Enabler_at_Newman_Brothers
Machinery_Demonstrator_at_Newman_Brothers
Front_of_House_and_Retail_Assistant_at_Newman_Brothers
As a volunteer we will give you the training you need for the role. We tell you about the training we offer in the role descriptions above. We will be asking you to commit to a minimum of one shift per week (4 hours).
