The Friday Photo: Sarehole Mill
I am back after two weeks off with this weeks the Friday photo which is of the very lovely and popular Sarehole Mill, on Cole Bank Road, Hall Green. Sarehole Mill was built in 1750 and probably best known for its links to the JRR Tolkien who spent part of his childhood nearby and who used the site and its surroundings as the inspiration for the Shire in The Hobbit and The Lord of the Rings.

Tracey’s best photo yet, I think. I love the patterns made by the swirling pond algae – I presume that’s what it is. Most people want to get rid of the stuff, just like they want to scrape away the patina on old buildings, but I like it. Very middle-earthy. Or is Mr Darcy about to rip off his shirt and dive in? Birmingham Museums Trust, as now is, deserve to be very proud of this site.
Yes they should it is amazing having places like this on your door step. I was after the reflection of the tower but bonus getting that swirl I liked that good to see different view of a well photographed building.
