I have walked passed this water fountain, mounted into one of the walls on the perimeter of the grounds of St Phillip’s cathedral, and thought it beautiful. I always wish that it was working and wonder what it would look like with fresh water in the shell-like bowl. The water fountain is from the 19th Century and is made of iron. The plaque underneath it reads:

“This drinking fountain originally stood outside Christ Church at the junction of Colmore Row and New Street and after the demolition of the church in 1899 it was re-sited in this location…”

Very nice, although it would look much nicer if it were gilded!

Thanks Stephen, I can always apply a nice gold filter over the image if it’d help! 🙂
