Heritage Open Days 2007 – Salesman’s Bag Newman Brothers
Most of the 70,000 artefacts have now been catalogued and removed from Newman’s in preparation for buildings work. Some remain, including this samples bag.

The Newman Brothers project is a unique opportunity to tell the story of the Victorian attitude to death and grieving, from the role of the undertaker, via the etiquette of dress, public notices, cards and dress, to the rituals the ceremony and the monuments.
I would very much appreciate details of the forthcoming open days at the factory.
with best wishes for a very worthwhile project,
